ACC Economic Development, Regeneration, Tourism and Transport Project Development Fund Updates – November 2024

 

Report of the Corporate Director of Community Development

 

1.0       PURPOSE OF REPORT

 

1.1       To provide an update on the projects endorsed by the committee.

 

 

2.0       BACKGROUND

 

2.1       At the meeting of North Yorkshire County Council on 22 February 2023 (Council Minute 83p), in respect of the 2023/24 Revenue Budget for North Yorkshire Council, it was resolved that, “£50k be provided annually for each Area Constituency Committee to commission works they feel appropriate for their local area”.

 

2.2       Six projects have been endorsed by the committee, and this report provides an update on all of them.

 

3.0       Updates

 

3.1       Coastal Access at Cayton Bay – project now complete

 

3.2       Offshore Economic Opportunities – project progressing successfully. Its development process has already led to a major local business with a strong maritime skills element signing Heads of Terms for the largest workshop in the building.

 

3.3       Active Travel Social Prescribing Pilot Project – Progress is on track. The training and         learning team are being provided with the necessary information and the package is in development.     

 

3.4       Scarborough 400 – Project progressing well, with 3D scanning completed. Feasibility work is now in development.

 

3.5       Sea bird nesting – Project development is going well, with preliminary discussions with the RSPB and University of Exeter. Brief now ready for procurement process.

 

3.6       Sea Swimming – Initial discussions completed. Brief now ready for procurement process.
